Cat Lake Campground, located 20 minutes north of downtown Squamish, is a quieter alternative to the busy Alice Lake Campground just down the road. There are 50 walk-in sites surrounding the lake, a loop trail links the sections of the campground, several beach access points, and a day use picnic area with a small dock.

Cat Lake is located in Squamish, British Columbia. It's a provincial recreation site maintained by the Squamish Nation Witness Society (Uts'am). The lake is accessible via a hiking trail from the parking lot, as there is no vehicle access. It is a popular spot for camping, hiking, and dirt biking. The lake is stocked with rainbow trout.

Campground Directions: Drive North from Squamish on HWY 99 for spprox. 11km; Watch for the sign on the HWY directing you to turn off. Turn right onto the Cheekye Forest Service Road. Travel approx. 2.5km, Cat Lake parking lot is on the right hand side.

August 29, 2020. A quiet moment on the campsite at a busy Cat Lake Recreation Site, in Squamish, British Columbia. This is a pic of the tree-lined campsite up above Cat Lake on a long weekend in BC - the grounds were pretty busy and loud (well into the evening), which is surprising for a walk-in, non-reservable campground, but it was quite.

The Cat Lake recreation sites and lake have now reopened after being closed for over two weeks because of the presence of a bear in the area. No reservations are need as this is a first come, first served site. There are walk-in campsites all around the lake. However, BC Parks cautions that this site has had numerous bear problems each year.
